UNDERPASSES FOR AMPHIBIANS ALREADY INSTALLED IN KOZJANSKI PARK

The construction of underpasses and permanent protective fences for amphibians on the road section near Trebče Fish-pond in Kozjansko Park is already in full swing! 

All four underpasses have already been built, and the protective fence is being installed on both sides of the 400-meter problematic section. 

With the increasingly warm days, the amphibians are also waking up. This year, for the last time, we have set up a temporary protective fence at Trebče, preventing amphibians from accessing the road and the construction site next to it. 

Every evening, we inspect the fence and safely transfer the animals across the road. Rainy evenings are particularly busy. Last week alone, we transferred over 2,500 amphibians, mostly brown frogs, along with some alpine and smooth newts, and even a few toads have already started their migration.
