SPRING TRANSFER AND MONITORING OF AMPHIBIANS IN RADENSKO POLJE LANDSCAPE PARK

SPRING TRANSFER AND MONITORING OF AMPHIBIANS IN RADENSKO POLJE LANDSCAPE PARK

At the end of spring, we are publishing the results of this year’s spring transfers and monitoring of amphibians in the Radensko polje Landscape Park on the road section 1368 Mlačevo–Rašica at Radenskem polju.
This year, as part of the 13th amphibian transfer campaign “Let’s help frogs across the road 2021”, we transferred over 18,000 amphibians across the road with the help of volunteers in more than 20 nights.
On the road section without a fence, we recorded almost 15,000 amphibians in 21 nights, among which were also the target species of the LIFE AMPHICON project – Italian crested newt (Triturus carnifex) and yellow-bellied toad (Bombina variegata).
The obtained results represent the starting point for determining permanent measures for amphibians – amphibian permanent underpasses and amphibian guiding fence on the road between Veliko Mlačevo and Velika Račna, which will be built within the LIFE AMPHICON project.

The safety and good visibility of participants in evening transfer and monitoring of  amphibian comes first.
