C.3 POPULATION REINFORCEMENT

Population reinforcement is planned in 3 partner countries: Jovsi (SI3000268), Tårup (DK008X192) and Felchowseegebiet (DE2950302).

 

In all 3 partner countries we will carry out population reinforcement until actions C.1 and C.2 will improve the habitat and the populations will be able to survive on its own. The technique is already well established in Denmark and Germany; the know-how will be transferred to SI.

 

The breeding station for Triturus carnifex in Slovenia will be set up by Kozjanski park in Podsreda. In Denmark and Germany, the breeding stations are already in place.

On Wednesday, September 6, we accompanied 92 young ones to their new life in Jovsi. The rest of them will be at the breeding station for a few more days until the transformation is completed, after that they will be returned to the new ponds in Jovsi....

  • The first year of population reinforcement for Triturus carnifex with supportive breeding was a great success. With the help and knowledge of project partners from Denmark and Germany, we bred 166 larvae, which we later released as young individuals in project area Natura 2000 Dobrava – Jovsi. The breeding station in Kozjanski park is the first breeding station for amphibians in Slovenia and the first breeding station for Triturus carnifex in Europe....
