COORDINATION CENTRE FOR AMPHIBIANS IN SLOVENIA AND LJUBLJANSKO BARJE LANDSCAPE PARK AT THE RAZNOŽIVO FESTIVAL

At the Raznoživo Festival on Thursday, May 22, nature conservation organizations from all over Slovenia gathered in Ljubljana. Among them were also the partners of the LIFE AMPHICON project, who presented our most important achievements to the visitors. The Centre for Cartography of Fauna and Flora introduced the public to the work of the Coordination Centre for Amphibians in Slovenia, while the Ljubljansko Barje Landscape Park showcased measures for protecting amphibian habitats.

The purpose of the festival is to present research activities from various fields, especially biodiversity research, and to raise public awareness about citizen science, which is experiencing a true renaissance globally.

At the stalls on Pogačarjev Square, we offered visitors leaflets, brochures, and promotional materials produced during the project over recent years. They were also greeted by realistic amphibian models. The most frequently asked question from visitors was how to help amphibians during their mass migrations across roads, so we also discussed the amphibian mitigation measures we implement.

We thank the City Municipality of Ljubljana for the invitation and excellent organization of the event, which attracted several hundred people.
