AMPHIBIAN HABITAT MONITORING FOR 2025 COMPLETED IN KOZJANSKI PARK

At the end of August, LIFE AMPHICON project partners from Kozjanski Park completed the monitoring of amphibian habitats for 2025, which took place as part of action D.1 – Monitoring  of the success of project actions.

We have been conducting monitoring in the Jovsi and Bohor project areas for the fourth year in a row. We have recorded all observed amphibians in 40 LIFE AMPHICON ponds and 11 reference locations and documented the state of aquatic habitats.

From early spring to autumn, the monitoring of amphibians was carried out four times in Jovsi and three times in Bohor by visual inspection, listening to calls and sampling with a water net. In Jovsi, we used traps for newts during the second inspection. The monitoring of aquatic habitats was carried out only at the end of the season.
