International Recognition for LIFE AMPHICON – IENE Project Award 2026

LIFE AMPHICON received the prestigious international IENE Project Award 2026 in September 2026. The award is presented by the network Infrastructure and Ecology Network Europe (IENE). It was awarded at the IENE 2026 Conference in Bristol and represents recognition of the project’s achievements in reducing the impacts of transport infrastructure on nature and improving ecological connectivity.

LIFE AMPHICON was recognized as an outstanding example of a comprehensive approach to addressing one of the major challenges facing amphibians in Slovenia, namely high road mortality during seasonal migrations. The project implemented 6.9 km of permanent mitigation measures at five road sections in Slovenia, including guiding fences and underpasses that enable the safe crossing.
